Obstacle Training Fun!!

I had an amazing workout last night. I barely finished work in time, ran to the T station, hoped for a quick ride, ran to my car, drove home and hit NO traffic, ran in the house and the guys hadn’t even left yet. WOO!!

I changed, filled up the cooler and we were out the door! We got setup and stretched out around 630ish, and started the training. As you can see from the photo, our friend Dan is part monkey and started to “run” on the tire as it was rolling.

Total, there was about 6 of us last night and we just barely made the three sets + a half mile run before the sun was completely gone. We had a blast. We were consistent, strong, motivated and stayed at a good pace.

I flipped that damn fucking tire (450lbs) 15 times total WITH NO ASSISTS! Yeah, remember me saying that one day I need to start flipping it on my own??? Fuck yeah! This girl did it! It wasn’t as hard as it has been, which means the steroids (joking) are working or I’m slowly getting stronger!

Total we did:

15 tire flips
2.8 miles (laps + half mile finish lap)
3 (x 2 laps = 6 total) farmer walks w/buckets of rocks
3 laps with 60lb drag bag (I’ll have to measure this distance one day)
3 sets of continuous combat rope drills (20 sec doubles at fast pace, 20 total outward & inward double slams, 20 rhythmic swings, 1 left arm, 1 right, 2 doubles)
30 Burpees (need to up these on Sunday)
45 Pushups (15 each set)
30 Lunges w/20# sandbag ( need to up these)
36 Bent Rows w/20# sandbag
66 Squats w/sandbag (12 each shoulder)
45 Overhead rock presses
———————————

They aren’t in any particular order, just writing them down as I remember them. It was one of the best workouts down there because of how strong I felt. Now for the stats:

Workout Time: 1.24.13 (Total overall time: 2 hours w/setup & walking to the cars after)
Workout Calories: 833 40% being fat (Total cals w/walking to the car: 900 exactly)
Max HR: 184 bpm
Avg HR: 156 bpm *BEST AVERAGE HR TO DATE!!!*

Thoughts: I kicked ass. This was the highest average HR I’ve had ever doing the obtacle training, I flipped that bitch tire (450lbs never gets old saying it) 15 times by myself, and I ran almost 3 miles without my shin flaring up!!!! This is what the perfect workout looks like. They don’t always happen, but when they do, they fucking ROCK.

Today (friday), I’m hitting the gym at lunch time to do some light cardio and back work. I haven’t done back/biceps at my new gym yet, so hopefully I can find something. That way, tonight I can come home, relax and fucking rest up for Saturday’s trail run!!!

AROOOO, IT’S FRIDAY GUYS!!! (still going with the aroo thing, makes me smile)
